Gymnastics Finishes Fifth at the 2023 EAGL Championships

DURHAM, N.H. – The Temple gymnastics team finished in fifth place at the 2023 EAGL Championships on Saturday at the Whittemore Center, scoring a 194.925 and picking up eight All-EAGL Tournament Team selections.

2023 EAGL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL SCORE RANKINGS
The Temple gymnasts team will look forward to Monday, March 20 at noon as the NCAA Selection Show will take place. Both teams and individuals will be announced to various campus sites around the country.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just like last year, the Owls finished the first session in first place.
- The Owls' vault and floor teams bookend the meet, scoring 9.8s or higher from three of the six gymnasts.
- Following the meet, seven Owls' gymnasts walked away with eight 2023 All-EAGL Tournament Team selections. (Ashley Glynn, Anna Hill, Madison Dorunda, Madison Brooks, Summer Ruskey, Brooke Donabedian, Renee Schugman)
Rotation 1 (Vault – 48.975)
- The Owls had three gymnasts score in the 9.8 range on vault in rotation one.
- Freshman Ashley Glynn led Temple with a 9.875, earning tournament team honors as she finished in third place. Glynn's score also tied her career-high on vault in which she set at home on March 2, giving her eight 9.8 scores this season.
- Following right behind in the vault standings were fellow all-tournament team honorees, Anna Hill and Madison Brooks. Hill earned a first-team selection as she finished in a tie for fourth, scoring a 9.850, while the senior Brooks ended her Temple career, earning a second-team selection, tied for 11th with a 9.8.
Rotation 2 (Bars – 48.225)
- Just last week at Maryland the Owls earned a season-high 49.200, but on Saturday struggled, scoring a 48.225.
- Brooks and Glynn, along with sophomore Sarah Stalling led the Temple team on the apparatus as they scored matching 9.775s, giving them a tie for fifth place after session one.
- For Brooks and Glynn, it was their fifth and seventh scores respectively, this season of 9.775 or greater.
- Stallings now has scored 9.775 or better in 12 of the 13 meets this season.
Rotation 3 (Beam – 48.850)
- All-EAGL beam selections Madison Dorunda and Brooke Donabedian continued their excellence, leading the Cherry and White during the championship meet with 9.8 scores.
- Dorunda earned a second-team all-tournament team selection with a 10th-place finish, scoring a 9.850. The sophomore added her 10th straight 9.8 or better.
- Junior Brooke Donabedian finished session one in a tie for second place with a score of 9.875, but finished for a tie of seventh place overall, earning first-team honors.
Rotation 4 (Floor – 48.875)
- Just like the first rotation, three of the Owls' six gymnasts would go onto score a 9.8 or higher.
- Sophomore Summer Ruskey earned a second team all-tournament team selection, leading off the TU team with a 9.825, her eighth score of 9.8 or higher in 2023.
- Dorunda followed Ruskey with a 9.800, her fourth score of 9.8 or better this season.
- Junior Renee Schugman earned the highest score for Temple as she scored a 9.850, earning first-team honors. The Smithtown, N.Y. native finished in a tie for seventh place, scoring her 9.850 or higher in five straight meets.
