Gymnastics Adds New Program Vault Record During "My Cause" Meet; Scores 195.275

PHILADELPHIA – On a special day for Temple gymnastics, the Owls broke the program's vault record with a 49.250 during their first-ever "My Cause" Meet. Maryland came away with the meet victory, scoring 196.600, followed by Towson in second place with a 196.050, Temple finished in third place with a 195.275, and West Chester with a 194.275.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Temple will be back in McGonigle Hall on Sunday, March 5 as it wraps up its 2023 schedule as it hosts Fisk University, Southern Connecticut State, and Ursinus. Meet time starts at 4 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Out of the gate, Temple broke the vault record with personal bests from four of the six gymnasts.
- After the first rotation, the Cherry and White were in first place edging Towson, 49.250-49.225, but were unable to hold the momentum over the next three rotations.
- Brooke Donabedian and Renee Schugman earned the lone event win for Owls with a 9.900 on floor.
- Ashley Glynn earned her first career all-around victory as she scored a career-high 39.175.
- The Owls broke the school record that was previously set in February of 2022 at NC State when they scored a 49.200.
- Freshman Charlie Behner and sophomore Anna Hill earned their first-ever 9.900 scores.
- Behner tied a freshman record that was set by Hannah Stallings in 2022.
- Glynn and sophomore Mackenzie Aresta also earned career-highs. Glynn set a new benchmark high score of 9.875, while Aresta tied her career with a 9.825.
- Led by a Sarah Stallings' 9.825, four of the six Owls' gymnasts scored of 9.7 or better.
- It was the eighth meet of nine this season that Stallings scored 9.8 or better.
- Ashley Glynn also added a 9.8 score. It was the fifth time this season the freshman would accomplish the feat.
- Both Madison Dorunda and Madison Brooks earned 9.7 scores, marking the fifth time this season that both TU gymnasts achieved at least a 9.7 score.
- The sophomore Dorunda led the Cherry and White with a third-place finish on beam, scoring 9.8, marking the seventh time this season she scored at least a 9.8 or better.
- Julianna Roland and Donabedian followed with 9.775s. Donabedian's score is her ninth 9.775 or better in 2023, while Roland has scored two straight 9.975s and her fifth score of 9.775 or better.
- Schugman led off the beam rotation with her second straight meet with a 9.725, marking the fifth time in 2023 with a score of 9.7 or better.
- It's the second time this season that Donabedian and Schugman tied for a floor event win.
- Schugman earned her second floor win this year, while Donabedian earned her four fourth.
- Glynn finished in the top 10 as she added a 9.800 and now has secured at least a 9.8 in four of her five floor outings this this year.
- Sophomore Summer Ruskey added her seventh 9.7 or better as she finished with a 9.700.
