Golf Finishes Day One Tied for Sixth at ECU Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Temple Men's Golf team sits in a tie for sixth place after the first day of competition at the ECU Intercollegiate. The second round of the event was suspended, and will continue Tuesday morning. The 16-team event is being held at Brook Valley Country Club on a par-72, 6,830-yard course. The tournament consists of 54 holes over a two-day period.
Previewing the Owls
> Sophomore Ethan Whitney continued where he left off after the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, posting a first round of one-over 73 and a second round score of one-over through 17 holes before play was suspended. Whitney posted the Owls' only eagle, and currently sits in a tie for 12th.
> Junior Graham Chase shot a five-over 77 in round one, and is at even par through 16 holes in round two. Chase finished the day tied for 19th,
> Sophomore Jake Naese shot an eight-over 80 in the first round, and is one-over through 17 holes in round two. Naese finished Monday tied for 46th.
> Senior Conor McGrath shot a six-over 78 in round one, and is four-over through 15 holes in the second round. McGrath finished tied for 55th.
> Junior Andrew Curran made his spring debut posting a five-over 77 in round one, and a 12-over 84 in the second round, making him tied for 84th heading into round three.
> Junior Danny Nguyen, competing as an individual this week, posted a 10-over 82 in round one, and a six-over 78 in round two. Nguyen sits tied for 80th.
The Field
> East Carolina leads the field after the first day, at 11-over. Francis Marion is in second at 14-over, while Barton College is in third at 15-over.
