Track & Field to Host Temple Invite at the Temple Sports Complex

4.6.23 | Women's Track and Field

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple Track & Field program is excited to host the 4th edition of the Temple Invite at the Temple Sports Complex on Friday, April 7. Field events are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by track and field competition at 5:15 p.m. Admission to the Temple Sports Complex (TSC) is free for all fans.

This meet is believed the first ever meet in program history that will feature only female athletes. Additionally, the five programs competing sponsor only women's track. Delaware, Loyola (MD), St. John's, and Towson will be the four teams visiting North Philadelphia for the meet.

Visiting TSC
> The meet will be hosted at the Temple Sports Complex, home of the Temple men's and women's soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, and track & field programs.
> The venue is located on Master Street between 13th and Broad Street at 1300 Master St, Philadelphia, PA.
> Parking at the Temple Sports Complex is limited. Fans are advised to use public transport if possible. Limited street parking is available on Master St, N 13th St, and W Thompson St around TSC.

The Owls
> Star pole vaulter Allie Riches is looking to build on an exceptional season. Riches has set the program record for both indoor and outdoor pole vault a combined five times this season.
> Five Owls will be running the 100m dash. Chelby Elam, Jewel Ofotan, Lauren Greig, Madison Trout, and Allyson Metzger will be representing the Cherry & White.
> Temple will also have five runners in the 200m dash. Elam, Ofotan, Greig, and Trout return from the 100m, with Sophia Gulotti joining the fray as well. Greig will look to build on positive momentum after a setting a personal best last week at Penn.

>  Isatu Shirek, Sophia Gulotti, and Fiona Carter will run in the 100m hurdles. Shirek and Kwanda Knight will run in the 400m hurdles.
> Elam, Trout, Greig, and Nkulume will run the 4 x 100m relay for the Cherry & White. The same squad will run the 4 x 400m with the exception of Knight instead of Greig.

> Nicole Castor, Amira Green, Jaaliyah Evans, and Fiona Carter will participate in the high jump for TU. Green is coming off a victory at Penn last week in the event.
> Tannekee Strachan and Allyson Metzger will be competing in the long jump. Strachan will also be jumping in the triple jump where she set the program record last season.

The Teams
> Delaware comes to Temple after finishing 6th at the CAA Indoor Championships in February. The Hen's competed against the Owls in the 1500m run at the Raleigh Relays to start the outdoor season, with Temple's Laura Nicholson and Elvira Bredin coming out on top. This will be the first of four straight meets that Temple and Delaware will share competition in.
> Loyola is looking to build off tying its best ever finish at the Patriot League Indoor Championships. Like Delaware, the Owls will see Loyola again this season in multiple meets.
> Temple and St. John's have met multiple times during the indoor season, including the Owls taking a trip up to Queens to compete in the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational at the Red Storm earlier this year. St. John's finished 5th at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships in February.
