Laura Nicholson Sets School Record for 1500m at Temple Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple track & field program hosted the first-ever all female meet in program history. Delaware, Loyola (MD), St. John's, and Towson visited the Temple Sports Complex for the meet in front of an over capacity crowd of 643 attendees.

Laura Nicholson shattered her personal best in the 1500m, running a time of 4:15.89, breaking her former PR of 4:20.94 by over five seconds and recording the 11^th fastest time in the east region so far this season. This was also a new school record for the 1500 for the Cherry & White.

Results

Temple had a strong showing in the high jump. Amira Green for Temple tied for first place with Nicole Castor and Jaaliyah Evans following behind tied for third with a mark of 1.62m.
Allie Riches took the pole vault for the Cherry & White, with an outstanding mark of 3.81m/12-06 ft.
Nicholson's 1500m was one of the highlights of the meet, winning by a differential of 28 seconds.
In the long jump, Temple posted a strong showing. Tannekee Strachan tied for first place with a mark of 5.23m (17-02ft). Allyson Metzger came in fourth with 5.11m (16-09ft).
Chidumga Nkulume's streak of two straight personal bests in the 400m dash wrapped up. Despite this, Nkulume still had a strong performance, placing 4^th with a time of 57.78.
Elvira Bredin impressed in the 800m with a time of 2:12.2, taking first place in the event.
Catherine Shontz set a new PR in the 3000m run with a time of 10:09.18.
Isatu Shirek took the 100m hurdles, recording a time of 15.05 seconds in the event.
