Track & Field Back in Action at Larry Ellis Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple track and field team looks to build off back-to-back strong performances this weekend at the Larry Ellis Invitational on the campus of Princeton University. The Cherry & White will field 16 athletes in the meet over two days.
Last Time Out
> The Owls had a strong showing at its home meet, with six members of the Cherry & White winning their respective events.
> Laura Nicholson stole the show, running a time of 4:15.81 in the 1500m to set a new school record. It was the 13th fastest time in the NCAA this season at the time it was run.
> The meet was one of the best attended events in the history of the Temple Sports Complex, with 643 attendees viewing the meet.
Previewing the Owls
> Five Owls will compete in the 100m dash. Chelby Elam, Lauren Greig, Jewel Ofotan, Tannekee Strachan, and Madison Trout, will hit the track for the Cherry & White.
> Elam, Greig, Ofotan, and Trout return for the 200m dash. Chidumga Nkulume is the lone Temple athlete running in the 400m, while Elvira Bredin will represent Temple in the 800m.
> In the 100m hurdles, Fiona Carter and Isatu Shirek will run for Temple. Shirek will also run in the 400m hurdles.
> Carter will also compete in the high jump. She will be jumping along side Nicole Castor, and Amira Green. Allyson Metzger, and Tannkee Strachan will compete in the long jump.
> Program record holder Allie Riches will be jumping in the pole vault.
> Catherine Shontz will run in the 5000m.
> Finally, Elam, Trout, Greig, and Nkulume will run in the 4x100m relay. Nkulume, Greig, Trout, and Kwanda Knight will do the same in the 4x400m relay.

> Temple travels to Virginia for the Virginia Challenge next weekend. The Owls will compete on Friday, the 21st and Saturday, the 22nd.
