Owls' Track and Field End First Day of Larry Ellis Invitational with Four Top-20 Finishes

PRINCETON, N.J. - On the first day of Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational, the Temple Owls' track and field team competed in three events, earning four top-20 finishes.
The Owls will back on the Princeton track for day two of the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. ET.

- Leading the way on the day for Temple was Tannekee Strachan in the long jump. The senior finished with a season-best 5.59 (2.1) meters, good for a ninth-place finish.
- Fellow long jumper Allyson Metzger finished in 16th place. The sophomore earned her second-best jump of the outdoor season with a 5.26 (2.9) meters.
- In heat three of the 800 meters, Elvira Bredin finished fifth, but the freshman finished 20th overall with a time of 2:10.68.
- In her season debut of the 5,000 meters, senior Cat Shontz ended day one for Temple, finishing seventh overall with a time of 17:39.75.
The Owls will back on the Princeton track for day two of the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
