Allie Riches Sets Outdoor Pole Vault Record in Second Straight Week at Big 5 & Friends

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple track & field program put on a strong performance across town at the Big 5 & Friends meet on campus of Penn. Amira Green and Chidumga Nkulume claimed victory in the high jump and 400m dash, respectively. Pole Vaulter Allie Riches headlined for the second straight week for the Cherry & White. The senior set her second school outdoor pole vault record in two weeks with a height of 3.93m.
The meet was cut short by inclement weather. The long jump and triple jump were not completed.
Results
Temple hosts its home meet of the Temple Invite Friday, April 7th at 5:15 p.m. This is believed to be the first ever all female meet in program history. The event will be hosted at the Temple Sports Complex. Admission is free to all fans.

Results
- Green took the high jump for the Cherry & White (1.66m/5-05ft). Jaaliyah Evans also competed in the event, placing 5th.
- Nicole Castor and Fiona Carter represented Temple in the Javelin Throw for the first time this season.
- Nkulume starred in the 400m dash. Winning the event and earning a personal best time of 56.85, beating out her time from last week by .01 seconds.
- The Owls had a tremendous showing in the 100m dash. Four of the top seven finishers in the event were wearing Cherry & White. Chelby Elam finished second in the event with a time of 12.35 seconds. Madison Trout and Jewel Ofotan placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Tannekee Strachan recorded a PR in the event (12.64 seconds)
- Elam placed the Owls again in the 200m dash, recording a time of 24.87 seconds. Lauren Greig finished 10th and put up a personal best time of 25.18 seconds.
- Riches put up another outstanding showing in the pole vault, tying for third and recording a height of 3.93m (12-10 ft), breaking the program record for outdoor pole vault she set last week.
- Strachan finished fourth in the long jump (5.49m/18-00 ft) and second in the triple jump (12.18m/39-11 ft).
