PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team partnered with the College of Science and Technology are for Buckets and Beakers on Tuesday morning. Buckets & Beakers offered a day of chemistry and basketball to Dunbar School 5th and 6th graders who might otherwise not have previous interest in, access to, or exposure to chemistry labs, materials, and activities. Buckets and Beakers is an outreach program intended to spotlight chemistry and other STEM-related fields for groups that are often underrepresented in such fields, particularly members of Black and Hispanic communities.

The event took place this Tuesday, April 11th from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Buckers & Beakers featured women's basketball student-athletes joining groups of Dunbar students to participate in stimulating chemistry experiments from 9-11 am at Beury Hall on the campus of Temple University, "I loved helping the kids learn about science and chemistry," said graduate guard Kendall Currence. "Just watching their faces light up and shout out answers was great to see. I'm glad we get the opportunities to help others and inspire kids." The groups participated in experiments such making colored slime, glow sticks, and other visually stimulating chemistry experiments. In the afternoon, the groups moved to Pearson-McGonigle Hall to tour the Temple basketball facilities and shoot around with the student-athletes.
