THE 2023 TUG TEAM AWARDS
PHILADELPHIA - Over the past week, the Temple gymnastics team announced its yearly award winners on social media for the past 2023 season. Each award winner was selected by votes by the entire team.
MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

“Brooke has been a great asset to Temple Gymnastics in her three years here! She is consistent and calm. She wants to win and holds those around her to a high standard. She competed on floor at regionals again this year for the second year in a row qualifying with a 9.915 NQS. Brooke scored above 9.9 nine times this year, including matching her own floor record with a 9.95. Congratulations to our 2023 MVP, Brooke Donabedian!" - Head Coach Josh Nilson
MOST CONSISTENT
"Anna only missed one routine this whole year! She was a staple on the vault and floor all season. She scored 9.9 on both the vault and floor as well! Congratulations to Anna Hill for being named 2023 Most Consistent!" - Head Coach Josh Nilson

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

“We had big goals for Ashley this year! She is a great and driven gymnast. To compete in the all around as a freshman is hard and Ashley did that eight times this past season! We are excited to have Ashley compete for the Cherry and White for another three years. Congratulations to Ashley Glynn for being named our 2023 Rookie of the Year!” - Head Coach Josh Nilson
GREATNESS DOESN'T QUIT
“Madison competed in three events for us 12 times this year! She competed in 38 routines total. That is an increase of 33 routines from her first year to this one and scored the second highest number of points by anyone on the team this year! She came into this year determined to be great and she didn't quit! Congratulations to our 2023 Greatness Doesn’t Quit award winner Madison Dorunda!” - Head Coach Josh Nilson

MOST IMPROVED

“Charlie started the year just missing the travel squad. By the end of the season, she was a staple in the vault lineup scoring as high as 9.9. She also ended up being a great backup for the floor. We expect her to continue to improve and compete at a high level for the team. Way to go Charlie! Most Improved 2023" - Head Coach Josh Nilson
SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
“Sarah is a great gymnast. She scored over a 9.8 on bars ten times this season. What is equally as impressive is that she did that while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She embodies what it is to be a true STUDENT-Athlete. Congrats to you Sarah! You are our 2023 Scholar-Athlete of the Year." - Head Coach Josh Nilson

TEAMMATE OF THE YEAR

“In our year end meetings with the team there was a clear common theme and that was the team expressing appreciation for Cyrena. We heard multiple people say that she was there for them and helped them in many different ways. It is important to us that all of our athletes feel loved and supported, and to hear that Cyrena is showing support and love for her teammates is fantastic! Congrats to Cyrena Whalen, the 2023 Teammate of the Year!” - Head Coach Josh Nilson
