Women’s Tennis Heads to Villanova While Riding Four-Game Win Streak

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's tennis (14-4) will visit the Villanova Wildcats (5-11) on Tuesday, April 4 for a match to be held at the Villanova Tennis Complex and begin at 3:00 p.m. The Owls are amid a four-game win streak which started at the Hampton match on March 25.

THE OWLS:

Temple is most recently coming off a win over the NJIT Highlanders on Friday, March 31. It marked the second of a back-to-back for Temple as Rider was on campus just one day earlier. The Owls won both matches by a final score of 6-1 after dominant play which started in doubles play.
Graduate-student Jamie Wei secured her twelfth singles' win of the spring and now has more wins in the second position with six, than in the first position with five. Thamara Frasser Kawaratani has insert herself in the top spot since joining the team this spring and has a 5-5 record from the first position. She has won the point in three of the last four matches for the Owls from there.
After facing Villanova on Tuesday, the Owls will have 10 days between their next match when they will host Georgetown on April 14. The team will then head to Orlando for the conference tournament.

SCOUTING VILLANOVA:

Villanova is 2-2 in its last four matches most recently beating Hampton University on Sunday, April 2 by a final score of 4-0.
Against Hampton, Villanova's Maggie Gehrig, Valieriia Kornieva, and Caitlin Fisher earned points in singles play for the Wildcats guiding them to the 4-0 victory.
Tuesday afternoon will mark the ninth matchup between both Temple and Villanova's women's tennis teams. Temple has never lost a match and has an 8-0 record against the Wildcats with the most recent match taking place on April 9, 2022.
After facing Temple on Tuesday, Villanova will host four additional matches before heading into the Big East Tournament starting on Thursday, April 20.
