Men's Crew Off to Strong Start at Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Temple men's crew team had four of its five boats advance to Saturday's Grand Finals after the first day of 2023 Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta which was held for the first time at the Cooper River. The team will be back in action Saturday with six boats in the Grand Finals, as two were already qualified.

Varsity Eight
> Temple's top boat, The Kevin Murphy, had the fifth fastest time (5:29.301) in morning time trials, placing less than three seconds behind Drexel.
> The Owls finished second in their semifinal heat to Colgate, rowing in 5:53.742.
> The Owls will row from lane one in Saturday's Grand Final (5 pm).

Second Varsity Eight
> The "Professor" Gratson, won its semifinal heat, defeating Colgate by over four seconds to advance to the Grand Final.
> The Owls had earlier posted the best time (5:38.160) in the morning time trials. That was nearly one second better than Drexel.
> The Owls 2V8 team will look to capture the Bayer Trophy as they line up at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Third Varsity Eight
> The Marguerite raced in a time trial, finishing second to Drexel by 2.438 seconds.
> The Owls will row in lane 4 in Saturday's Grand Final starting at 2:10 pm.

Novice Eight
> The Gavin White raced in a time trial, finishing second to Drexel by 2.226 seconds.
> The Owls will row in lane 4 in Saturday's Grand Final starting at 1:10 pm.

Second Varsity Four
> The Mirabella had the top overall time in both the morning heats, besting Fairfield by nearly 10 seconds, and winning its semifinal by 15 seconds over Drexel.
>The Owls will look to secure gold in the Grand Final from lane 3 (1:50 pm).

Novice Four
> The Angus placed third in its semifinal, missing the Grand Final by less than two seconds to second place Lafayette.
> The Owls will compete in the petite final from lane 2 starting at 9:20 am.

Single
> Elias Deaibes was second in both his morning time trial and his semifinal on Friday.
> He will row from lane 2 in the Grand Final Saturday (12:10 pm).

The Dad Vail Regatta will continue tomorrow, Saturday, May, 13 with the TUMC Novice Four Grand Final starting at 9:20 am. Live racing results will be tweeted from @Temple_MCrew.
