Owls Shine at Night as Three Temple Athletes Advance to Finals at AAC Championships

Tampa, Fl – On a rain soaked Saturday at the American Athletic Conference Championships, three members of the Temple Track & Field team qualified for the finals of their events. A lengthy weather delay stole the show. Competition was halted due to lightning strikes at 4:15pm and did resume until 9pm resulting in the pole vault being moved to Sunday at 11:30.
Laura Nicholson and Elvira Bredin starred in the 800m, taking the one and two spots in their heat to qualify for the final tomorrow.

How it Happened
- Tannekee Strachan and Allyson Metzger competed in the long jump. Strachan recorded a mark of 5.65m (18' 6 ½ ft) to place 5th in her flight.
- Following their performance, Nicholson and Bredin will compete in the 800M final tomorrow at 6pm.
- Chidumga Nkulume set her fourth personal best of the season in the 400m dash, clocking 54.31 to qualify for the final of the event.
- Chelby Elam, Greig, and Trout ran in the 100m dash. Greig earned the best time of the Owls, running 24.79. This was also a personal best for the native of Scotland.

- Program record holder Strachan jumps in the triple jump at 2:30p. Three Owls will compete in the high jump 4:30p. Track events will also begin at 4:30 for TU.
