Temple Pair Preps for Opening Round of NCAA Tournament

ORLANDO, Fla. – Temple's Jamie Wei and Maiko Uchijima are set to appear in the opening round of 32 at the 2023 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament beginning this Tuesday, May 23, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. The pair will face a top pair from the University of Michigan in Jaedan Brown and Kari Miller. Live stats and streaming will also be available.

The winner will advance to the round of 16 and play either Kailey Evans and Elizabeth Goldsmith from the University of San Diego or Carolyn Ansari and Ariana Arseneault from Auburn. The match will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, FL.
The Owls:
- Wei and Uchijima helped Temple's women's tennis achieve a record of 17-5 this season while picking up the team's first win in conference play since 2015, defeating No. 8 Tulane 4-2 on April 19.
- After immediate chemistry in the fall, Wei and Uchijima went on to earn a 28-3 overall record in doubles play while being ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation twice.
- Individually, the graduate-student captain Wei went on to have a 21-4 record in singles play behind only freshman partner Uchijima who had a team high 25 wins this season with only two losses.
- The duo will mark the first Temple representation in the women's tennis NCAA Tournament since the 2008 women's team who had a record of 17-6 that season.
- Jaedan Brown and Kari Miller had a record of 22-7 throughout the season guiding the Wolverines to a 25-4 record overall, and a perfect 11-0 record in the Big 10 Conference.
- Individually, Brown and Miller split time in the first position of singles play throughout the season picking up a combined record of 15 wins to only three loses.
- As a team, Michigan was ranked No. 5 coming into the tournament. After defeating teams such as Youngstown St., Notre Dame, and No. 12 Virginia, they fell to No. 3-ranked Georgia in the quarterfinals of the tournament on May 17 at the USTA National Campus.
