Fencing Earns USFCA Academic Honors

PHILADELPHIA - The USFCA has announced the 2023 NCAA Fencing Academic Awards, with Temple fencing among those honored. The Owls earned All-Academic Team honors with a 3.53 combined GPA, while 14 fencers were named to the All-Academic Team and seven were named Scholars of Distinction.

The USFCA All-Academic Team includes 558 student-athletes with 360 receiving recognition as Scholars of Distinction. All-Academic Team honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.3 or higher. Scholar of Distinction honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.7 or higher. 

Brown University received the Women's Scholar Team of the Year Award with an USFCA-best team GPA of 3.85, with twenty-two women's teams earning All-Academic recognition for their combined in-season team GPA. Among the women's teams, Notre Dame led the nation with twenty-five All-Academic Team selections.
