Men’s and Women’s Tennis Collect 2022-23 ITA Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Temple men's and women's tennis teams were named 2022-23 All-Academic teams by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association while 10 Owls were named ITA Scholar Athletes, as announced by the organization.

Men's tennis players Gregoire Barety, Alberto Blumenschein, Louis Gorregues, Thibault Frumholz, Leo Raquinalong with women's tennis players Vineetha MummadiThamara Frasser Kawaratani, Maiko Uchijima, Evie Wei, and Veronika Kulhava were all honored for their successes both on the court and in the classroom.

The women's tennis team garnered a team GPA of 3.37 while the men's team registered a GPA of 3.53. The academic honor marks the sixth straight season for the women and the eighth straight season for the men.

For the men, Frumholz earned the honor for the fourth time in his career, while Gorregues and Raquin were awarded with their third academic respective accolades. First time plaudits were handed out to Barety and Blumenschein.

On the women's side, Mummadi added her third straight nod, while Kulhava and Wei their second recognitions with the Owls. 2023 newcomers Maiko Uchijima and Thamara Frasser Kawarantani earned their first respective plaudits with Temple.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year (on a 4.00 scale) and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: 1.) have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), 2.) all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and 3.) all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
