PHILADELPHIA – McDonald's All-American Nominee Drew Alexander has signed an aid agreement with Temple women's basketball, announced head coach Diane Richardson. The 5-11 wing will be the fifth newcomer to join the Owls for the 2023-24 campaign joining Jaleesa Molina, Tristen Taylor, Sheyenne Swain-Price, and Demi Washington.
"Drew Alexander comes from a nationally ranked high school program and is a prolific scorer from deep range," Richardson said. "She has a knack for opening defenses, and we certainly look forward to her contributing to our equal opportunity offense."
Alexander played three seasons at the high school level, reclassifying after her sophomore year upon committing to Temple this summer she opted to forego her last year. In her fourth and final year of high school, the Cary, N.C. native was named to the Nike Tournament of Champions and Mecca Showcase All-Tournament teams while guiding prep power Shabach Christian Academy (MD), to a 19-11 record. In her sophomore year, she was selected to the Insider Exposure National Tournament All-Tournament team. During her freshman season at Greensboro Day, she was selected to the Greensboro All-City Team, was ranked as a top 50 prospect nationally by ASGR Basketball, and was the named one of the top players in North Carolina by Prep Hoops.
Alexander also suited up for the AAU squad DMV Lady Tigers this past season on the Nike circuit. She was also invited to participate in the NCAA College Basketball Academy in Memphis TN and John Lucas Top 160 Camp in Houston TX. As a freshman in the Under Armour finals, playing for Lady Phoenix she set a single game record for three pointers made with eight. Alexander competed for the SC 76ers in the first Jr. NBA World Championship in Orlando, FL. The guard excelled academically, making the honor roll each of her four years, and was dually enrolled at Prince George's Community College (MD) in her junior year, completing her high school requirements.
