Owls Battle to Scoreless Draw at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- The Temple men's soccer team fought to a 0-0 draw in their season opener on Thursday night at Monmouth. Flannan Riley saved three shots for the Owls in his Temple debut.
How it Happened
> Monmouth controlled the offensive side of the ball early on, taking four of the first five shots and outshooting Temple 8-3 in the first half. Riley made two of his three saves in the first.
> Kemali Green, Juan Zepeda, and Lleyton Imparato all got shots off in the first 45 minutes.
> It took nearly twenty minutes before the Owls could challenge the net in the second, with Nikolai Zapolskikh taking the team's first shot of the half in the 64th minute.
> Temple finished the second half with seven shots to the Hawks' five. Riley added another save as the two teams concluded 90 minutes without a shot finding the back of the net.
Game Notes
> Zepeda and Felix Ewald each recorded a shot on goal. Ewald and Green led Temple with two shots apiece.
> Green, Riley, and Alex O'Leary played all 90 minutes, with Lukas Egarter logging 88 minutes.
> Three yellow cards were pulled in the match, all coming against Temple.
