Big Defensive Effort Leads Field Hockey Past UConn in League Opener

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team opened its conference slate with a 1-0 win over UConn Friday afternoon, topping the Huskies for the third-straight year. This marks the first time in program history that the Owls have defeated UConn for three straight years.

> Neither team had any offensive momentum in the first quarter, with the majority of play occurring between the 25s.
> The Huskies drew three corners in the second frame, but all four shots were cleared by the Temple defense.
> The Owls' defense cleared five corners in the third quarter, defending five shots.
