Owls Finish Fourth at Temple Invitational

Three players earn top 10 finishes; White squad finishes in fifth
PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The Temple golf team (Cherry) entered Sunday's second round tied for fourth place of the Temple Invitational and finished the tournament in fourth place. Three players including, the Cherry's Aidan Emmerich and Graham Chase, along with the White team's Andrew Curran finished in the top 10 of the final standings. As a team, the Cherry team closed out the event in fourth place with 15-over 575, one stroke behind third-place Penn.

The Owls' golf team will return to the links on Monday, Oct. 2 and Tuesday, Oct. 3 for the Ironwood Collegiate Classic in Greenville N.C.

- Emmerich was the Owls' top finisher, tying for fourth place as he shot a three-over 73 in round two and totaled a three-over 143 in the two-day event. In the final round, the Swampcott, Mass. Native tallied 12 pars on the day with a pair of birdies.
- Chase was one of the last three Owls off the course on Sunday afternoon, improving two strokes better than Saturday's first round. Just one day earlier, the Charlotte, N.C. native sunk one birdie, but improved 24 hours later with three birdies. Chase finished out the Temple Invitational in a tie for eighth place with a four-over 144.
- Senior Andrew Curran was the overall leader of the Temple's White squad that finished with a two-day 21-over 581. Like Chase, Curran finished in a tie for eighth-place as he carded a three-over 73 on Sunday and totaled four-over 144 over the two days.
- Sophomore Brett McGrath (White) had a strong showing in the second round by improving three strokes on his score card. The Huntington Valley, Pa. native shot a one-over 71 with four birdies. He connected on all four of his birdies between the 11th and 14th holes. McGrath totaled a five-over 145, good for a tie of 13th overall.
- The white squad's Matthew Vital had the biggest improvement of any Owls' player. From round one to round two the freshman improved by 12 strokes, an improvement that garnered him a spot in the top 20 final standings. On Saturday, Vital ended the day as he carded nine-over 79 on but turned it around 24 hours later and shot a three-under 67. The Bethlehem, Pa. native was the only Owl to shoot in the 60s during the two-day event.
- Three other Owls' players, including Joey Morganti (5), Gregory Hanna (5), and Jake Haberstumpf (7) saw improvement by five strokes or better from day one to day two.
The Owls' golf team will return to the links on Monday, Oct. 2 and Tuesday, Oct. 3 for the Ironwood Collegiate Classic in Greenville N.C.
