No. 19 Field Hockey Looks to Continue Winning Ways at Old Dominion

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 19 Temple field hockey team will look to extend its four-game winning streak Friday at noon, heading to Norfolk, Va. to face Old Dominion for its second league matchup of the season. 

Scouting Temple
> The Owls (6-2, 1-0 BIG EAST) are on a four-game winning streak, topping UConn and Lehigh last weekend. The 1-0 victory over the Huskies marked the third-straight year Temple has topped UConn.
> Tess Muller leads the team with three goals, all three being game-winners. Seven other Owls have posted goals for the team.
> Molly Frey has been a force in goal, recording 26 saves and allowing 11 goals for a 0.703 save percentage. Her 1.38 GAA ranks 21st in the NCAA and second in the league.
> The Cherry and White is back in the rankings, coming in at No. 19 in the Week 3 NFHCA Poll. This marks the highest ranking for the team since ending the 2014 season at No. 16. The Owls cracked the rankings for the second straight year, coming in at No. 23 to end the 2022 season after debuting at No. 24 on Sept. 20, 2022.

Scouting Old Dominion
> Old Dominion is on a three-game slump, going 2-5 (0-1 BIG EAST) on the season.
> The Monarchs opened their league slate at No. 10 Liberty, falling 2-0 in Lynchburg, Va.
> Four of the team's five losses have come to top-10 teams, with three of those being decided by just one goal.
> ODU has outscored its opponents 14-10 despite being shut out in three games this season, with eight goals coming against Queens earlier this month.
> Marlon de Bruijne leads the team with five goals, firing 33 shots with 24 on target.
> Two Monarchs have seen time in the cage, with Suus Broers seeing the majority of minutes. The Utrecht, Netherlands native has recorded 24 saves for a 0.706 save percentage and a 1.55 GAA.

Series History
> This will be the 34th meeting between the teams, with Old Dominion holding a wide 28-4-1 series advantage.
> The Owls are on an eight-game losing streak, last topping the Monarchs 2-1 in overtime at home in 2016.
> The teams met twice last year, with the regular season matchup seeing the Monarchs top Temple 2-0 at Howarth Field. The Owls fell 4-3 in a shootout heartbreaker in the 2022 BIG EAST Tournament semifinals.
