PHILADELPHIA - The Temple cross country teams return to competition after three weeks off this Saturday at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University. This is one of the largest races in the country, with 5,200 athletes representing over 450 schools.
Previewing the Owls
> Both teams opened the season placing second in the Owls XC Invite.
> Temple's men had a strong showing, finishing fourth in a field with three power five schools at the Penn State National Open. Cole Frank led the Owls with a 12th place finish, David Troy also impressed in 24th place.
> The women finished in 5th place, in front of West Virginia. Elsa Chan placed the squad in 12th, Elvira Bredin finished in 24th. It was the second straight meet they placed first and second. Bredin will not be racing in the contest due to personal reasons.
The Field
> Both squads will be running in the college gold race, the highest level at the Paul Short Run.
> 40+ schools will compete in each race.
Quotable: Assistant Coach Charlotte Imer
"After a three week hiatus from competition, our teams are excited to race tomorrow at Paul Short. With a number of regionally ranked teams from the Mid-Atlantic attending, this is a great opportunity for both men's and women's teams to show where they stack up on a bigger stage and have some fun running fast in the process."
