Track & Field Travels to Nittany Lion Challenge

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Temple track and field team will compete in its first indoor meet of the 2024 calendar year at the Nittany Lion Challenge hosted by Penn State on Saturday, January 13. The meet is the third of the indoor season for the Owls and will feature 17 total competing schools.
Last time Out
> Temple had a productive close to 2023 at the Fast Times Before Finals meet hosted by Lehigh University. The Owls won three individual events and saw four personal bests.
> Amira Green led the way in high jump, setting a personal record and national top-20 mark of 1.75m. The jump was just .09m shy of tying a program record.
> Inara Shell had a highly productive day, placing first in the triple jump (11.88m) and second in long jump (5.75m).
> Nya Browne took first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.88 in the finals of the event.
> Green, Allyson Metzger (60m), Jade Pope (500m), and Aliza White Vega (pole vault) all set personal bests.
> Allie Riches took home a podium finish, placing third in the pole vault with a 3.80m score.
Previewing the Owls
> In the sprints, the Owls will race Madison Trout, Nya Browne, and Allyson Metzger in the 60m. Trout and Browne will also compete in the 200m. In the 400m, Jade Pope and Lauren Greig will race for Temple. Browne will be joined by Fiona Carter in the 60m hurdles.
> Laila Cottom and Chidumga Nkulume will both compete in the 600m event.
> In distance, Dominyka Petraskaite and Molly Demarzo will compete in the one mile run. Dililah Ayan and Elsa Chan are set to run in the 3000m for the Owls.
> Temple will be well represented in the jumps at the Nittany Lion Challenge. Amira Green, Nicole Castor, and Carter will all compete in high jump. Reagan Schwartz, Inara Shell, and Obiamaka Igwenagu will compete for Temple in the triple jump — the trio will be joined by Metzger and also compete in the long jump.
> The Cherry & White will have four athletes competing in the pole vault. Allie Riches will look to return to the podium, and she is joined by Cierra Crane, Aliza White Vega, and Reece Sullivan.

Temple will have a week turnaround before traveling to Staten Island, New York, for the Villanova Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Complex.
