10.1.24 | Men's Golf
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Senior Ethan Whitney matched a school record with an 18-hole round of seven-under par and the Temple golf team broke a single-round school mark with a 14-under par 274 to round out the final day of action at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic on Tuesday.
Whitney's round featured seven birdies, 11 pars and zero bogeys to match an over 50-year record set by Walter Brown at the 1973 Yale Invitational. Whitney, who finished fifth individually, helped the Owls to a team score of 274 to break the 18-hole mark of 276 (par 70) set in 2013 at The Doc Glimmer Tournament. The 14-under par round also set a new standard that had previously been -11 -- set twice, last at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in 2011.
