ABOUT THE OWLS
- Temple bounced back from a tough first round at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic, hosted by East Carolina, shooting a final-round 274 (-14) to set a new 18-hole school scoring record.
- The total score bested a mark set previously by the Owls at the Doc Glimmer (276) in 2013, and the to-par score of -14 also set a new standard that was originally set all the way back in 1982 at the ODU Invitational (-11).
- Individually, senior Ethan Whitney performed beautifully, matching a school record with a round of seven-under par.
- Whitney's second-round 65 was a personal collegiate best and his -7 tied Walter Brown's record that he set at the Yale Invitational in 1973.
- As a team, five players shot par or better on the day -- Whitney (65), Aidan Emmerich (68), Joey Morganti (69), Michael Vital (71), and Michael Walsh (72).
- Whitney's performance was good for a tie for fifth individually at -8 for the tournament, while Walsh tied for 22nd at -3.
- Overall, the Owls tallied 26 birdies across six players during round two of the Ironwood Collegiate Classic.
- In addition to Elon and Temple, the 18-team field consists of Appalachian State, Queens University, UNC Greensboro, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, North Carolina A&T, Old Dominion, Radford, East Carolina, LIU, Longwood, Middle Tennessee State, Presbyterian, Dartmouth, Francis Marion, and UConn.
