Men's Golf Completes Opening Day of Elon Phoenix Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Temple University men's golf team played 36 holes at the Elon Phoenix Invitational on Monday. The Owls had an improved final 18 holes of the day, firing a 287 to improve on their first-round score by five strokes.

- Senior Michael Walsh led the way during the first round of action, shooting a one-under par round of 70 to sit in a tie for 14th individually.
- Classmates Ethan Whitney and Jake Naese put together two-over par rounds of 73 as Temple shot 292 (+8) as a team.
- The Owls started to put together a much improved second round, with Whitney birdieing four of his first eight holes.
- Junior Aidan Emmerich also had a hot start, tallying four birdies through seven holes after an opening-round 77.
- Whitney, Emmerich and Naese each closed the second round at even-par 71.
UP NEXT
- The third and final round of the Elon Phoenix Invitational will take place on Tuesday, October 15.
- Play is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
