PHILADELPHIA - Mathéa Lassalle scored late in the third quarter as the No. 20 Temple field hockey team downed Providence for its sixth consecutive win, 1-0 on Friday afternoon. TU is now 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the BIG EAST.

BY THE NUMBERS

The six wins a row are the most consecutive victories for the Owls since 2007 when it won six straight from October 7-27.
For Lassalle, it was her second goal of the season. Alizé Maes picked up the assist on the tally.
Temple outshot the Friars 13-8. It was a tale of two halves as the Owls had a 10-0 edge in the first half, but PC delivered eight shots in the second 30 minutes.
Penalty corners were even in the game, 6-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cherry and White were the more formidable side in the first half, continually peppering the Providence goalie with shots.
PC got the jump in the third quarter, getting four quick shots off early in the frame.
TU got on the board with 1:56 left in the third. Off a corner, Maes delivered a shot that was saved. Lassalle corralled the rebound and lifted it past the keeper for a 1-0 Temple lead.
The Owls finished the game strong defensively, surviving a trio of penalty corners in the final 14 seconds for the Friars. On the last one, Isabella Ospitale was able to make the save and kick the ball out of the circle after the buzzer to preserve the win.

Temple is off on Sunday and next plays on Friday, October 18 when it hosts Georgetown in a BIG EAST matchup at Howarth Field. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
