EASTON, Pa. – Alizé Maes tied the game on a penalty corner early in the fourth quarter, but the No. 20 Temple field hockey team saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end with a 2-1 setback in overtime against the Lafayette Leopards on Sunday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS

The goal was the fifth of the season for Maes, now giving Temple four players with five or more goals this season.
Tess Muller and Devin Kinzel both earned assists on the goal, coming directly off the corner.
Each team recorded five shots on goal in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Just 30 seconds into the fourth quarter, the Owls earned a penalty corner. On the insert from Muller the ball was trapped by Kinzel for Maes who drove the ball into the lower left corner of the cage to tie the score at 1-1.
The Leopards got on the board first with just more than three minutes remaining in the opening quarter, scoring on a penalty stroke.
Midway through the second period, Temple began to push the pace on the offensive end, but were unable to crack the scoreboard as Lafayette maintained the one goal lead into the fourth quarter.
The Owls had the first opportunity in overtime, but a shot went wide before the Leopards were able to push an attempt across the line with 4:08 left in the extra session.
