No. 19 Field Hockey Set for Road Weekend at Villanova, Yale

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 19 Temple field hockey team looks to clinch its spot in the BIG EAST tournament as it takes on Villanova on Friday, October 25 before a non-conference contest on Sunday, October 27 at Yale.

- Temple moved up in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll this week, ascending to the No. 19 spot in the rankings. It is the third week in a row the Owls have been ranked.
- With a win at Villanova, the Cherry and White clinches a spot in the BIG EAST tournament for the fifth consecutive season.
- Temple has four players with four or more goals this season, as Tess Muller and Devin Kinzel each have six with Peyton Rieger tallying five and Alizé Maes recording four. All four Owls have at least 13 points this year.
- With four games to play in the regular season, TU has scored 36 goals, already its second-highest total in the last nine seasons. 12 different players have found the back of the cage.
- Isabella Ospitale currently leads the BIG EAST in goals against average and save percentage.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
- The Wildcats enter play 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the BIG EAST following a 2-1 setback against Old Dominion on October 18. The Monarchs scored with less than four minutes remaining to steal the win.
- Villanova has a high-powered offense with 37 goals already this season, led by Sabine de Ruitjer, who has 12 tallies. She is tied for the conference lead in goals and is second in points with 26.
- Meghan Mitchell has six scores and Ava Borkowski has punched home five.
- On the defensive side, Maddi Sears has started all 14 games this season and has a 1.87 goals against average.
- Joanie Milhous is in her 30th season as the head coach at Villanova with 260 career wins to her record.

SCOUTING YALE
- The Bulldogs enter the weekend 9-4 overall with a 3-2 record in the Ivy League. Most recently, Yale topped Dartmouth 4-0 on October 18.
- It has been an impressive turnaround for the Bulldogs who went 7-9 last season and have already matched their total number of conference wins from a year ago.
- Balanced scoring has been the story for Yale on offense as Chiara Picciafuoco, Poppy Beales and Lauren Venter each with six goals and Hettie Whittington has five. 11 different players have tallied for the Bulldogs.
- Defensively, Alexa Pitts has played every minute in cage with a 1.26 goals against average, which tops the Ivy League.
- Melissa Gonzalez is in her third season with the Bulldogs, posting a 25-21 record.
