Football Travels to East Carolina

THIS WEEK
Temple travels to Greenville, North Carolina, to take on the East Carolina Pirates on Saturday, October 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00pm at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and will air on ESPN+.
 
LAST WEEK
Temple earned its second win of the season in a 20-10 homecoming victory over Tulsa. The Owls jumped out to a 17-0 halftime lead and made crucial defensive stops in the second half to secure the win.
 
Owls QB Evan Simon threw for 297 yards and a touchdown, while RB Terrez Worthy added a rushing touchdown. The story of the game offensively was the tight end room, with Landon Morris leading the game in receiving yards with 97. Peter Clarke scored the third touchdown of his collegiate career, and Daniel Evert added two receptions for 27 yards.
 
Defensively, DE Diwun Black wreaked havoc throughout, recording two sacks and a forced fumble that was recovered by SAF Andreas Keaton. CB Jamel Johnson recorded his first interception as an Owl late in the first half, and LB Tyquan King led Temple in total tackles with nine.
 
LAST TIME VS. EAST CAROLINA
Temple last faced East Carolina in the 2022 season finale, with the Pirates emerging victorious in an offensive shootout, 49-46. ECU RB Keaton Mitchell gained 300 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns – three rushing and one receiving.
 
The story of the game for the Owls was QB E.J. Warner, who made Temple history. The true freshman became the first Temple QB to throw for 500+ yards in a single game. Warner, who finished the contest with 527 passing yards, broke his own record that was set earlier in the season against Houston. Additionally, WR Jose Barbon had 13 receptions, tying the second- most in school history for catches in a single game.
 
LAST TIME VS. EAST CAROLINA AT DOWDY-FICKLEN STADIUM
Temple last traveled to Greenville in November 2021, suffering a 45-3 defeat. ECU QB Holton Ahlers threw for three touchdowns in a winning effort, while Mitchell displayed another impressive performance against the Owls, scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 146 yards.
 
UP NEXT
Temple will be on their second of two byes next week before returning to action on Saturday, November 9, at Tulane. The kickoff time and broadcaster are TBA.
