Fencing Begins 2024-25 at North American Cup in Atlantic City

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple fencing team begins its season this weekend as it takes part in the North American Cup in Atlantic City on Friday, Oct. 4 -Monday, Oct. 7 at the Atlantic City Convention Center.
  • The NAC consists of two divisions (Division I and Junior) and three weapons. The Owls will be sending 16 student-athletes to the opening weekend event.
FOIL
  • Three-time NCAA Championship Qualifier Anna Novoseltseva leads the foilist into action this weekend after earning 35 wins a season ago.
  • In 2024, Constanca Dimas moved to closer to 100-career wins as she posted a 34-20 season record, putting herself at 98 for her career. A season ago, Dimas qualified for NCAA Regionals.
  • Just like Dimas, junior Renee Oymann helped the Owls to the NCAA Regional at Drew University where she earned 30-26 overall record.
  • Junior Natalie Adams-Kim finished her first season with the Owls, posting a 23-15 record, earning Second Team All-NIWFA honors.
  • Newcomers Jara Del Cura will see her first action as a Temple Owl. 
EPEE
  • Lindsey Minor had a solid first season with Temple where she earned 29 wins and earned a spot at NCAA Regionals and Second-Team All-NIWFA.
  • A 2024 NCAA Qualifier, Grace Smith earned 39 wins her second season with the Cherry and White
  • Senior Cindy Long put together a 23-20 in 2024 and now 27 wins away from 100.
  • Anne Mai-Melles enters her junior season with 55 wins after completing 2024 with 22.
  • Victoria Doroshkevich, Caira Blake and Auprell Edwards will also compete in epee for the first time as Temple Owls.
SABRE
  • In her first season (2024) with the Owls, Lauren Johnson went 50-20, earning a trip to the NCAA Championship, First-Team All-NIWFA, and USFCA All-Region Second Team.
  • Senior Eva Ventura qualified for NCAA Regionals in 2024 after earning 56-27 record, putting her in the 100-win club for her career.
  • Newcomers Samantha Nathanson and Alexandra Papetropolou will see their first action as Temple Owls.
UP NEXT
The Owls will be in action on Oct. 26 as a part of the Nikki Franke Classic at the Liacouras Center.
