Volleyball Ready for Florida Weekend Trip

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple Owls volleyball team will be on the road to take on USF (Nov. 1) and Fla. Atlantic (Nov. 3) over the weekend. This is the second time the Cherry and White will face off against the pair of Florida schools. Temple walked away from their last meeting with a loss to South Florida and a win against Florida Atlantic. Friday's match will take place at The Corral in Tampa, Fla. at 6 p.m. while Sunday's match will be at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena in Boca Raton, Fla. at 12 p.m. Both matches will be available on ESPN+, in addition to Sunday's game being available on FAUSports.com.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
- Temple volleyball is 11-13 overall and 3-7 in conference play.
- TU split last weekend with a 3-0 win over UTSA and 3-0 loss to Rice.
- The Cherry and White hosted UTSA on Friday night. Taylor Davenport moved to seventh all-time in program history after her 15-kill performance and a career-high .565 hitting percentage. After the weekend, she is three shy of tying the sixth all-time for program kills.
- Last time out, Haverford, Pa. native, Sydney Jones led the Cherry and White with 15 kills on Sunday afternoon against Rice. This marks her 15th time reaching double-digit kills for the year.
- Sophomore, Lexi Yoza, averaged 12.3 assists per set over the weekend. Sunday saw Yoza achieve her sixth double-double for the season with 28 assists and 10 digs.
- Sydney Jones and Taylor Davenport earned American Athletic Conference recognition from their play over the last week. Jones received AAC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season while Davenport received her third AAC Honorable Mention this season.
SCOUTING USF
- USF holds a 12-9 record overall, 8-2 in conference, after last weekend. They will face their Florida neighbors, Fla. Atlantic before hosting the Cheery and White.
- Maria Clara Andrade commands the Bulls' offense with 341 kills on the season. Caroline Dykes acts as the main distributor with 855 assists, the next highest is 71 assists from Lia Schneider. Schneider instead helps on defense with her team-leading 328 digs. Imani Hartfield and Tizi Puljiz protect the net with 51 and 48 blocks, respectively.
- Last weekend saw the Bulls play 10 sets over both their games, coming away with the with against North Texas (3-2) and falling short against UTSA (2-3). Friday, USF was on the road against the Mean Green. Andrade led the offense with 25 kills on the night, her fourth time reaching 20-plus kills this year. Naiya Sawtelle and Hartfield also provided double-digit kills in the five-set win on the road. Dykes achieved her eighth double-double of her season with 54 assists and 10 kills. On the road against the Roadrunners saw the Bulls lose their second conference game this year. Andrade extended her double-digit kills streak to 15 straight matches after a 15-kill performance. Schneider (22) and Samiha Foster (10) provided double-digit digs while Hartfield had five blocks in the afternoon.
- South Florida currently occupies the second-place spot in the American Athletic Conference.
HISTORY VERSUS USF
- The Bulls command a 17-12 record against the Temple Owls. USF has won four of the last six matches against TU, including one earlier this year.
SCOUTING FLA. ATLANTIC
- Florida Atlantic came out of last weekend with a 13-9 overall record, 5-5 in conference. They will face South Florida on Wednesday before their match with TU.
- Katelynn Robine and Valeria Rosado lead the Fla. Atlantic offense with 249 and 243 kills, respectively. Victoria Hensley has been moving the ball around, leading the team with 907 assists this season. Rosado also provides Florida Atlantic with defense, leading the team with 226 digs on the season. Madison Dyer (52) and Kaila Ru (53) have been able to tally 50-plus blocks this season.
- Fla. Atlantic split the weekend with a loss to East Carolina (0-3) and a win over Charlotte (3-1). Three players recorded eight kills for Florida Atlantic in the road trip to East Carolina. Rosado reached 1000 career kills with her eight-kill performance. Hensley led the team in digs (14) and assists (27) against the Pirates. The team bounced back on Sunday with their first road win of the season. Valeria Rosado led the team again with a season-high 22 kills at a .413 hitting percentage. Isabelle Northam held down the back row with 20 digs for the afternoon. Madison Dyer recorded three blocks to help on defense.
- Fla. Atlantic holds the sixth position in the American Athletic Conference.
