THIS WEEK
Temple returns home to take on the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday, November 16, at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 2:00 pm ET and will air on ESPN+.
This week marks a reunion between the two head coaches - Temple's Stan Drayton and Florida Atlantic's Tom Herman. Drayton served as running backs coach for all four seasons of Herman's head coach tenure at Texas. During their time in Austin the Longhorns won four consecutive postseason games. The two coaches also spent time together on Urban Meyer's staff at Ohio State from 2012-14.
 LAST WEEK
Temple fell to Tulane on the road last week, 52-6. The Owls were never able to find a rhythm, and the Green Wave impressed in their homecoming win. Leading the way was RB Makhi Hughes, scoring two rushing touchdowns and amassing 153 yards on 19 carries. Tulane QB Darian Mensah completed 14-21 passes for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
For Temple, RB Terrez Worthy broke free for a 75-yard rushing touchdown in the second half. Worthy gained the edge and beat the defense, showing off his speed in the open field. Defensively, LBs Tyquan King and D.J. Woodbury led all players with 12 and 10 tackles, respectively. The two lead the Owls in that statistic, and currently rank second and third in tackles per game within the American Athletic Conference. CB Jamel Johnson added an interception late in the closing moments of the first half, marking his second of the season.
LAST TIME VS. FLORIDA ATLANTIC
This week will mark the first ever matchup between the Temple and Florida Atlantic football programs. While the two schools are unfamiliar that is not true with the head coaches. Temple's Stan Drayton worked for FAU's Tom Herman while Herman was the head coach at Texas. The two had won a National Championship together at Ohio State in 2014 while they were both assistant coaches.
After playing UTSA and North Texas for the first time last season, the only remaining school within the AAC Temple has not matched up with before happens to be another team with an Owl as its mascot – the Rice Owls.
UP NEXT
Temple will conclude their 2024 road schedule next week with a trip to San Antonio to take on UTSA on Friday, Nov. 22. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm ET and will air on ESPN2.
