12.5.24 | Field Hockey
MANAHAWKIN, N.J. - Temple University field hockey student-athletes Alizé Maes and Tess Muller were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team, sponsored by Apex Field Hockey.Â
Maes, who was named the 2024 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year in November, earned a post on the first team while Muller earned second-team honors.
Maes picks up all-region accolades for the first time in her career after a stellar senior season with the Owls. The Belgian led a defense that topped the BIG EAST in shutouts and allowed just 12 goals in conference play. She also led Temple with 20 points and tied for the team lead with seven goals.Â
Muller is recognized as a second team all-region performer for the second straight season. She recorded six goals and had five assists while starting all 20 matches for Temple. Her assist on Sunday against Lehigh was the 24th of her career, tying her for 10th all-time in program history.Â
Each of the five regions associated with the NFHCA recognizes up to 16 student-athletes on both the first team and the second team. The NFHCA Division I All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards to come from the NFHCA over the next several weeks.
Next to be announced are the NFHCA Regional Players of the Year on December 12, followed by the NFHCA All-American teams on December 17 and the NFHCA National Player of the Year on December 19.
