Results

HUMACAO, P.R. – The Owls wrapped up the first day of the Palmas del Mar Collegiate tied for ninth out of the 13-team field with a total team score of 288, good for even par. The team was led by sophomore Aidan Emmerich who carded a team-best, one-under, 71. The Owls finished with the fifth most birdies on the day with 18 total.

Recapping the Day

Emmerich finished his round with a stellar back-nine that included four birdies. He finished with a three under, 33 on the back nine, helping him finish with the low score for the Owls.
Senior Graham Chase led the Owls with six total birdies on the day, good for the second most by any individual in the field. He also led the field tied for the best scoring average on par 3s with a 2.5 average and total two-under score.
Junior Ethan Whitney finished with an even par-72, the team's second lowest score on the day. His two-under, 34 was the lowest front nine score on the team which included an eagle on hole three.
In his first tournament since winning the Big 5 championship, junior Joey Morganti shot an even-par 72.
Junior Michael Walsh finished with a 78 on the day.

The Field

Kennesaw State leads after day one with a team total of eight-under. Arkansas finished in a close second place with a score of seven-under. No other team scored lower than three-under
Shaun Cook of first place, Kennesaw State, and Matt Doyle of Elon had the low scores of the day with a five-under, 67.
