Women's Tennis to Host Wagner College and FDU

PHILADELPHIA- Temple women's tennis (4-2) is set to host Wagner College (3-7) at the Hecht Tennis Center on Sunday, March 3 at 3:30 p.m. Two days later on Tuesday, March 5, the Owls will take on Fairleigh Dickinson University (2-2) at home starting at 11:30 a.m.
THE OWLS
- The Cherry and White enter the weekend after winning four straight matches over the past two weekends. Temple began its string of victories by sweeping Siena College and Villanova University, followed by a tandem of wins against Norfolk State University and Howard University. Evie Wei achieved singles and doubles wins throughout all four matches.
- Maiko Uchijima and Samantha Nanere climbed to No. 19 in ITA's National Doubles Rankings as of Feb. 21.
- As a team, Temple completed an intense fall season, where it played in the Penn Invitational from Sept. 8-10, the Villanova Invitational from Sept. 15-17, the Cissie Leary Invitational from Sept. 22-24, ITA Regionals from Oct. 6-8, the Princeton Invitational from Oct. 13-15, ITA Super-Regionals from Nov. 1-5, and the doubles pair of Nanere and  Uchijima earned an invitation to the ITA National Fall Championships where they achieved the Round of 8. In November, the pair was ranked No. 20 in National Doubles Rankings.Â
- Temple finished the 2023 season with a 17-5 overall record, winning all but one match at home.Â
Scouting Wagner
- The Seahawks have faced ten opponents thus far, earning wins against Providence College and Norfolk State University.Â
- To close the 2023 fall season, the Seahawks split their last two matches, defeating Holy Cross and falling to Colgate.
Scouting FDU
- In a 2-2 start to the 2024 season, the Knights have defeated Le Moyne and Binghamton and fallen to St. John's and NJIT.Â
- Gauri Bhagia and Alena Kubanova have achieved doubles wins in both Knight victories.Â
