No. 9 Temple Fencing on Tobacco Road for Two Days of Fencing

The Owls will be at the Tar Heel Duals on Saturday and Sunday for the Duke Invitational.
PHILADELPHIA – It's a two-meet weekend in the state of North Carolina for the No. 9 Temple fencing team. Starting on Saturday in Chapel Hill, N.C. for the Tar Heel Duals, the Owls will finish off the weekend on Sunday just down the road in Durham for the Duke Invitational.
The Owls will start fencing at 8 a.m. against No. 8 Northwestern on Saturday, followed by Boston College at 9:15 a.m., LIU at 10:30 a.m., No. 15 NYU at 12:30, and finally the host North Carolina at 1:45 p.m.
With a bye in the first round, the Owls will begin Sunday at 9:30 a.m. against Air Force, No. 5 Duke at 11:00 a.m., Brandeis at 1:00 p.m. and Johns Hopkins at 2:30 p.m.
LAST TIMEOUT
Last week, Temple went 8-4 last weekend with wins against No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 13 Ohio State. On the final day of the Northwestern Duals, the Owls earned clean sheet with a 5-0 record.
Included in the losses was a 14-13 loss to No. 8 Northwestern and No. 14 Stanford, 16-11.
INDIVIDUALLY AT NORTHWESTERN
Freshman Lindsey Minor (8-2) and graduate student Margherita Calderaro (8-4) combined for 16 of the epeeists' 31 wins on day one of the meet. Calderaro picked up three of her eight victories during the 18-9 win versus No. 2 Notre Dame.
Sabreists Eva Ventura had an incredible second day, going 11-1. Ventura totaled a team best 18 wins in two days in Evanston. Alexandra Weinberg (8-3) and Zoe Turner (8-4) also had a strong day, tying for the team lead with eight wins apiece.
UP NEXT
The Temple fencers will return to McGonigle Hall on Saturday, Feb. 23 for the Temple Invitational with Senior Day festivities starting at 1:30 p.m.
