Women's Tennis to Host Drexel at Hamlin Courts on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA- Temple women's tennis (6-3) is set to host the Drexel Dragons (5-3) at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 at the Hamlin Courts at Penn. This is the seventh match the Cherry and White has hosted this season.
THE OWLS
- The Owls enter the match after dominating FDU on Tuesday, March 5, 6-1, and coming up short to No. 72 NJIT on Friday, March 8.
- Temple has won six out its past seven matches. The Cherry and White began its string of victories by sweeping Siena College and Villanova University, followed by wins against Norfolk State University,Howard University, and FDU.
- Evie Wei has achieved eight consecutive doubles wins with partners Jessie Zheng and Sena Takebe.
- Seated at No. 31 in doubles play, Maiko Uchijima and Samantha Nanere have also achieved No. 19 and 20 this season.
- As a team, Temple completed an intense fall season, where it played in the Penn Invitational from Sept. 8-10, the Villanova Invitational from Sept. 15-17, the Cissie Leary Invitational from Sept. 22-24, ITA Regionals from Oct. 6-8, the Princeton Invitational from Oct. 13-15, ITA Super-Regionals from Nov. 1-5, and the doubles pair of Nanere and Uchijima earned an invitation to the ITA National Fall Championships where they achieved the Round of 8. In November, the pair was ranked No. 20 in National Doubles Rankings.
- Temple finished the 2023 season with a 17-5 overall record, winning all but one match at home.
Scouting Drexel
- The Dragons uphold a 5-3 overall record coming into the weekend.
- Drexel has lost its last two match against Navy and Cornell, both scores standing at 5-2.
- The Dragon's 2023 season resulted in a 11-12 overall record and a 3-1 CAA conference record.
