Johnson and Novoseltseva Concludes Day 1 at the NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, OHIO – On Thursday, freshman Lauren Johnson and junior Anna Novoseltseva concluded the first day of the 2024 NCAA Championships after three rounds pool play.

- Johnson finished the first day in the top 10 of sabre in ninth place as she picked up eight wins in 15 bouts. The freshman's overall stats include 57 touches scored and 56 touches received, for an indicator score of 1. Johnson highlighted her first day in round, winning three of her four bouts, 19 touches scored, 15 touches received, for an indicator score of 5, the second-best indicator score in her respective pool.
- Novoseltseva closed out her day in 17th place with seven wins in 15 bouts. The junior had 51 touches scored and 61 touches received. The junior foilist highlighted her first day of competition with round two where she added three wins in four bouts with an indicator score of 5, tying for the second best in her respective pool.
- The top four fencers in each weapon will move on to the semifinals and finals.
- Rounds four and five will begin on Friday at 9 a.m ET for both foil and sabre.
