Women’s Track & Field Competes Through Damp Conditions at Penn Challenge

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple Women's Track & Field team competed admirably on a very rainy day in West Philadelphia at the Penn Challenge at Franklin Field on Saturday, March 23.
The Cherry & White saw seven top-five placements and four personal records. The Owls competed against a field of 11 total teams.
How it Happened
> In the 400 meters, Jade Pope took first place with a time of 57.21.
> The Owls saw another solid group performance in the pole vault, with Allie Riches leading the way at 3.91 meters (12-10), placing second. Cierra Crane was just behind in third place, leaping 3.66 meters (12-0). Aliza White Vega set a new outdoor personal record at 3.66 meters (12-0), placing sixth.
> Nicole Castor led the way in high jump, placing second at a height of 1.60 meters (5-03). Amira Green placed sixth at 1.50 meters (4-11).
> Nya Browne placed second in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 15.30.
> Allyson Metzger placed fourth in the 100 meters, clocking a new personal-best time in the event.
> In the 3,000 meters, Elsa Chan placed fifth with a time of 10:00.77. The mark is an outdoor personal record.
> In the 200 meters, Metzger placed eighth at 25.85.
> Dominyka Petraskaite competed well in the 1,500 meters, placing 16th out of 37 runners with a time of 4:49.75.

Temple is set to travel to Princeton, New Jersey to compete at the Sam Howell Invitational on March 30. The event is hosted by Princeton University.
