3.30.24 | Women's Track and Field
RALEIGH, N.C. — Temple Women's Track & Field athlete Elsa Chan made history this weekend, setting a new program record in the 10,000 meters at the highly competitive Raleigh Relays on Friday, March 29.
Chan clocked in at 34:43.45 to place 26th out of 60 runners in the 10,000 meters.
Temple's previous record in the event was set in 2021, when Michelle Joyce ran a time of 34:47.69. Chan is almost precisely a month away from moving into third-place all time in Temple's record book in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:53.62 at the 2024 AAC Indoor Track Championships. Chan's program record in the 10,000 meters is the fastest time a Temple athlete has run the event in either indoor or outdoor track.
