PHILADELPHIA - Temple senior rower Brandon Van Vuuren was one of 25 recipients of the Diamond Award, the university's highest recognition given to an undergraduate by the Office of Student Affairs.
The Diamond Award is reserved for undergraduates who have demonstrated superior leadership, academic achievement, service to the University, and impact on a community (local, regional, or global). Through their leadership, the winners are set apart from others as especially deserving of this unique honor.
A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Van Vuuren is a member of the Trustee Ten, owning one of the top 10 cumulative grade point averages (3.93) among all Temple student-athletes. The psychology major serves on the Morgans Message Executive Board, where he informs student athletes on mental health and how to deal with certain issues. He also has volunteered his time at the Andrew Murray Soup Kitchen in Johannesburg and is a member of the Psi Chi Honors Society. Â
