Green, Igwenagu, and Shell Selected to Compete at NCAA East Regional

PHILADELPHIA — Temple Women's Track & Field athletes Amira Green, Obiamaka Igwenagu, and Inara Shell were selected to compete in the 2024 NCAA East Regional, hosted by the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky on May 22-25.
The Owls
> Green qualified for the high jump after a stellar season from start to finish. Her top mark of the year came at the 2024 AAC Outdoor Championships, where she leaped a career-best height of 1.76 meters (5-09.25). Prior to the conference championships, Green leaped 1.70 meters or higher in three different meets. Green also placed in the top five in high jump at five different meets. She currently ranks 28th in the NCAA East Regional.
> Igwenagu is also entering the NCAA stages in top form, having just set a new career-best of 12.83 meters (41-1.25) in the triple jump at the AAC Outdoor Championships. Her score earned her a bronze medal in the event. Earlier in the year, Igwenagu placed fifth in the college division of the Penn Relays. She placed in the top five in the triple jump at the USF Bulls Alumni Invitational, Sam Howell Invitational, and Larry Ellis Invitational. Igwenagu currently ranks 26th in the triple jump in the NCAA East Regional.
> Shell, the 2024 Indoor Track runner up in triple jump, will look for similar success at the NCAA East Regional. The junior placed fifth in the Penn Relays college women's triple jump championships division. She has placed in the top five of the triple jump at the Sam Howell Invitational, Penn Invitational, and Larry Ellis Invitational. Shell's mark of 12.62 meters (41-05) ranks 48th in the NCAA East Regional.
About the NCAA East Regional
> The men's events begin at 10 a.m. ET on May 22, while the women's events begin at 10 a.m. on May 23.
> Temple's athletes will all compete on May 25, when the first round of the high jump and triple jump take place. High jump is set to start at 2 p.m. ET and triple jump is slated for 6 p.m. ET.
> The top 12 individuals in each event will earn a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which runs from June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
