Davenport Named to the 2024 AAC Preseason All-Conference Team

Makes History as First Temple Volleyball Player Since 2021 to Earn AAC Preseason All-Conference Honors
PHILADELPHIA - Outside hitter Taylor Davenport became the first Temple volleyball player since the 2021 season to represent the Owls on the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team. The 2024, 12-player list was voted on by the league's coaches and released on Monday.
Last season, Davenport played in all 31 games, becoming the 22nd player in school history with 1,000 career kills (ended the year with 1,117). The Columbia, S.C. native earned a pair of individual accolades throughout 2024, earning AAC Offensive Player of the Week  on Aug. 28 and AAC Honor Roll on Sept. 4.  Davenport led the team and was fifth in the conference with  411 kills and 3.51 kills/set. The graduate student recorded 15 or more kills on 12 occasions, including a career-28 kills.  On the service line, Davenport led the team with 32 service aces, including tying for the sixth most in a match (5) in school history.
As a team, Temple finished 17-14 overall, their best finish to a season since 2017. The Owls were picked to finish eighth out of 14 teams for this season's AAC Preseason Poll.
The Owls open the 2024 season by hosting the Cherry and White Invitational on August 30 and 31 as they host Rider, Radford, and Farleigh Dickinson. On Sunday, Temple will host No. 7 Penn State at 1:30 p.m.
