Wollenschlaeger, Team USA Earn Silver Medal in PR3 Mixed 4+ at Paralympics

9.1.24 | General, Women's Rowing

PARIS, FranceGemma Wollenschlaeger and Team USA earned a silver medal in the Mixed 4+ from Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium on Sunday morning.

The United States gave heavy favorites Great Britain – who set a world record in its heat and won the European championships by 13 seconds – a significant challenge in the early stages of the event, trailing by just .04 seconds at the 500-meter buoy.

GB extended its lead by the midway mark of the race, but Team USA continued to put the pressure on. The American boat never allowed Great Britain to get into open water and easily outdistanced France for the silver by more than four seconds.
