Field Hockey Earns Sunday Win Against La Salle

PHILADELPHIA – Back on home turf, the Temple field hockey team got back to its winning ways with a 4-0 win against the La Salle Explorers on Sunday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS

Devin Kinzel posted her team-leading fourth and fifth goals of the season.
Catherine Arentz and Mathea Lassalle each scored for Temple.
It was the ninth consecutive win for the Owls against the Explorers.
Temple is now 37-4-1 all-time against La Salle, its most wins against any opponent.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After an early penalty corner attempt for the Owls, the majority of the first quarter was played in the midfield until Temple went on the attack with three minutes remaining . Coming down the right side, Tucceri took a long shot from outside the circle that was redirected by Arentz and beat the keeper for a 1-0 TU lead.
The second period went much the same as the first. Temple had the best chances of the frame off a penalty corner with 2:50 remaining, but a pair of shots were turned aside by the La Salle goalie.
Five minutes into the third, the Cherry and White struck again. Off a corner, Temple advanced the ball towards the net. In the ensuing scrum, Kinzel redirected a shot off the stick of Muller for her fourth goal of the year.
Early in the fourth quarter, Lassalle picked up first of the season, tipping a shot in close that was off a feed from Peyton Rieger. Closing the scoring, Kinzel delivered a penalty stroke with 13 seconds left in the contest.
