PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - Temple men's golf saw both its Cherry and White teams move up the leaderboard on the final day of the Temple Invitational on Sunday. The White team improved on its first-day score by six strokes and closed in seventh position, while the Cherry team jumped up two spots to a fourth-place team finish.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The 1912 Club hosted the 12-team field over two days and played tough on the final day of competition, with nine of the 12 teams seeing increased team scores.
  • One of the three teams to improve was Temple's White squad, led by junior Brett McGrath (72) and sophomore Matthew Vital (72).
  • McGrath shot one-under par on the front nine, registering eight pars and a birdie en route to his round.
  • Vital closed with a flourish, birdieing three of the final six holes for a back-nine score of two-under par 33.
  • Also contributing with solid scores on the day were sophomore Michael Vital and junior Darren Nolan, who each shot 74.
  • The Cherry team was paced by senior Ethan Whitney, who put together a two-over par round of 72 thanks to a solid back nine (even-par 35).
  • Junior Aidan Emmerich was one-under par through 13 holes and registered a 73.
  • Emmerich and Whitney were the top individual finishers for the Owls, placing in a tie for 12th overall.
  • Drexel shot a final-round 287 to earn the team title by two strokes over Penn, who put together an impressive 283 on the day.
