BY THE NUMBERS
- It is the first time in program history Temple has won consecutive games against ranked opponents.
- Peyton Rieger scored her third goal of the season for the Owls. Devin Kinzel posted her sixth goal of the season, her second on a penalty stroke and Muller delivered her third.
- Myrthe Schuilenburg added an assist on the game-winner.
- Temple had a 11-5 advantage in shots in the fourth quarter and overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Temple had the advantage from the start in overtime, earning their only two corners of the game and holding a 7-0 shot advantage. Taking a pass from Schuilenburg, Muller ran along the end line, beat the goalie who had come out of the cage and pushed home the winning goal with just more than two minutes left in the extra session.
- Trailing 1-0, the Owls tied the game as Rieger chased down a ball on the right side and kept it in play just before it crossed the end line. Turning towards the cage, she evaded a defender and lofted the ball past the keeper.
- It was a defensive minded game as the two teams combined for just five shots in the first 30 minutes. Isabella Ospitale made two stellar saves in the opening half to keep the game scoreless.
- Monmouth got the first goal of the contest on a penalty stroke 5:50 into the third quarter. After Rieger's goal, the Hawks struck again early in the fourth.
- Kinzel was able to force the overtime period, tying the game at 2-2 on a penalty stroke for her sixth goal of the season.
