Spirit Squad Prepares to Compete at National Championship

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple Spirit Squad, consisting of the Diamond Gems dance team and the cheerleaders, is set to compete at the 2025 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship in Orlando, Florida, from January 17-19.Â
There is a strong sense of confidence for the Owls this year following their recent success at the National Championships. Last year, the Diamond Gems secured a fourth-place finish in the Game Day Routine category, marking the program's best result in this competition. This accomplishment also marked the Owls' sixth Top 10 finish in the category. The cheerleading squad also earned a fourth-place finish for their efforts in the All-Girl Game Day routine. This continues the Owls streak of a top five finish in this category in each year since its debut in 2017.
As part of their final preparations, the Spirit Squad will host a Nationals Showcase on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m. in McGonigle Hall. Admission is free, and all family, friends, student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans are encouraged to attend and cheer on the Diamond Gems and Cheerleading Team as they display their routines before heading to Orlando.
