No. 11 Fencing Sweeps Day 1 of Philadelphia Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 11 Temple fencing team hosted its first dual meet of the season on Friday, kicking off day one of the Philadelphia Invitational at the Temple Pavilion. The Owls went undefeated, securing wins against North Carolina, Johns Hopkins, and UC San Diego.

MEET SUMMARY
- Temple began the meet by defeating North Carolina, 15-12.
- The Owls then followed with another victory over Johns Hopkins, 20-7.
- To close the day, Temple narrowly defeated UC San Diego, 14-13.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Anna Novoseltseva led the foil squad with a 7-1 record. In the deciding bout against UC San Diego, Novoseltseva rallied from a 2-4 deficit to win three straight points, clinching the match for Temple.
- Eppeist Anne-Mai Melles excelled with a 5-1 record, including a 3-0 sweep against Johns Hopkins.
- Lauren Johnson led the sabre squad with six victories, while Eva Ventura followed with five wins.
